IFAT works for the Gig Workers of various services providers in India.
History :- At a conference held in Mumbai on December 19-20, 2019, IFAT was established.
At its founding meeting, demands were made for government insurance, a welfare board for drivers, and aminimum price per kilometer.IFAT called on the government to insure gig transport workers and asked that businesses offer personal protection equipment to their employees during the COVID-19 outbreak.In June 2020, the union reports that more than 38,000 workers participated in nationwide protests for these objectives.The union also objected to the corporations’ decision to require drivers to download the Aarogya Setu contact tracing software, claiming that this would enable the companies to monitor their employees.IFAT Swiggy employees went on strike in September of that year, demanding the return of the previous payment system that paid them more for deliveries that were three to six kilometers in distance.In order to make up for the increased cost of gasoline, IFAT employees in Telangana Hyderabad, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Delhi, Assam, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Gujrat, Chennai, and Udisha went on strike in February 2021.Regarding the employee categorization and its inclusion in the Unorganised Workers’ Social Security Act of 2008, IFAT filed a public interest lawsuit in the Supreme Court in September 2021.
